Woman Laughs After Realizing She ‘Didn’t Specify’ View From Budget Hotel

A video showcasing an unexpected unique view from a hotel room in Nevada has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was posted by @ms._karina_marie and has amassed over 687,000 views since it was shared on July 13. The view was captured at the Flamingo hotel in Las Vegas, according to a location shared with the post.
A message overlaid on the video reads: “POV [point of view]: You didn’t specify the room view on the budget travel site assuming it wouldn’t be this bad.” According to a later comment from the poster, the room cost “$300 for 4 days.”

The footage begins with a woman standing near some suitcases in front of a mirror in the hotel room, pointing a mobile phone at the mirror. The woman is later seen opening the curtains of the room, revealing an industrial view of what appears to be heating and air ventilation equipment on the roof of an adjacent building.
A caption shared with the post simply reads, “I win this trend,” and in a later comment, the poster wrote: “By far the worst view I’ve ever had.”
U.S. hotel occupancy is projected to reach 63.6 percent in 2024, marking “a significant improvement” over 2020’s historic low of 43.8 percent, according to the 2024 State of the Industry report by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

The AHLA report found that friendliness and cleanliness continue to be “essential to positive guest experiences.” When consumers were asked what steps hotels should take to ensure their guests enjoy a positive experience, they “ranked guest room cleanliness, property cleanliness, and friendly staff as the most important factors,” according to the report.
The AHLA report said that hotels in the U.S. lost more than 680,000 direct employees in one year from 2019 to 2020. Years later, the hotel workforce has yet not fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels, with more than 67.6 percent of hoteliers having experienced staff shortages in January 2024. This year, hotels in the U.S. are expected to directly employ more than 2.1 million people, the report added.

TikTok users were sympathetic toward the original poster, with some saying they have had the same experience.
ZardiC posted: “That’s a really expensive view! That’s easily 100k in HVAC [heating, ventilation, air conditioning] equipment.”
𝙽𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚢<3 added “I had this same view!!” and @gabbss.5 commented: “LMAO [laughing my a** off] literally my exact view in Vegas.”
Others tried to see the positives of the room, such as Carly who wrote, “That’s awesome you have so much privacy,” and Richard posted that it was “so peaceful.”
Pops Ortiz commented, “I’m only in the room to sleep!” and kc agreed, saying: “on a vacation i am there to be doing things! not staring out the window.”
